This was Atlanta's first ever victory over Washington. The Freedom won their previous two meetings, 3-1 and 2-0. Abby Wambach (2 goals, 4 assists) has had a hand in six of Washington's seven goals against the Beat.
The Beat extended their winning streak to three straight games.
Washington has lost four straight games and has a nine-game winless streak.
The Freedom were without goalkeeper Erin McLeod who tore her ACL in her right knee in Saturday's game against FC Gold Pride. Rookie Ashlyn Harris made her WPS debut in goal.

This will be the Breakers and Freedom's final regular-season meeting of the 2010 season. The Breakers have dominated the series thus far, posting a 2-0-1 record against the Freedom.
This match is part of PUMA's Project Pink initiative to raise awareness and fundraising for breast cancer. The Breakers will wear special PUMA Project Pink uniforms and a PUMA Project Pink match ball will be used.
Boston is looking to close out an impressive July. They've recorded four wins against one loss during the month.
