Hello fans back in Boston,

It seems like forever ago that we were in Boston training and playing at Harvard Stadium. So much has happened since we left Boston to come back to England.

Our English National Team made it to the finals of the European Championship in Finland. We won a silver medal which was a great achievement. As a team, we are now hungry for more success and medals.

After a long Euro tournament we decided to go on vacation to rest our tired limbs, get away from the game, and re-charge our batteries.  We both like going to the beach on vacation but opted for something different and a little bit adventurous.  We decided to go on safari to Kenya.

We wanted to share our adventure with you…After a long nine hour flight and an hour journey thru Mombassa we arrived at our hotel exhausted.  We had a brief look around the hotel to get our bearings, and then went straight for the sun loungers and slept there for a couple of hours.  We spent the first couple of days hanging out at the hotel because it always takes us a while to relax as we are always on the go, especially the last four weeks training for the tournament.

On day three of our trip we got up at 5:30 am for breakfast, and then got picked up by our safari guide.  Off we went on a three hour drive to Tsavo National Park. We got to the park entrance where our guide stopped the van and folded the roof up so we could stand up and look out of the top.  We drove into the park and we were excited to see what animals we could spot.

The first animal we come across was a lizard in a tree. The further we drove the more animals we could see.  We were in awe of the elephants and giraffes because they are such big, beautiful creatures. One of our favorite moments was when we saw a herd of elephants drinking and bathing at a water hole. We stayed and observed them for about 15 minutes. We also saw a cheetah having her lunch.  She had killed a gazelle and was enjoying her feast. That’s nature at its best!

We saw many more animals including various birds, zebras, wilder beasts, and buffalo before stopping at the hotel. We checked in and went for a dip in the pool. The hotel was protected by an electric fence so there was no fear of an animal attack. The view from our room was amazing.  We looked out into the wild where elephants were minding their own business and giraffes passing by.

We had lunch then off we went on another game drive for 3 hours.  We were camera happy and kept clicking away it was like a competition to see who could get the best picture.  The time flew by and we were back to the lodge for some down time and dinner.

The next morning was another long drive and a transfer to the West side of the park. We saw more animals including ostriches, lions, cheetahs, hippos and baboons. The safari was an amazing experience one that we will never forget.

We arrived back to the hotel amazed at how close we got to some animals. We chilled out some more and each read three books.  We took a jet ski out onto the water and managed to get a scuba dive in.  One day and went to a man made animal park where we fed giraffes, watched crocodiles being fed and saw giant tortoises walking around freely.  Some of the giant tortoises were over 100 years old.  They were so friendly you could stroke them.  I wanted to take one home with me, but I don’t think my dogs would have appreciated it.

Overall the trip was a great two weeks. The people of Kenya were really welcoming and friendly.  It was a nice break away from soccer.  Now, it’s back to business, training in England, and focusing on a new WPS season.  We are both really looking forward to the season starting, and itching to get back into pre-season in Boston where we will have some new faces and see the old faces.

So that’s it from us.  If you get a chance to go on safari do it...It’s amazing!!

All Our love,
The Brits
