Boston Breakers Letter to Supporters

NORWOOD, MA (Jan. 30, 2012) –  To all of our fans here in Boston, New England, the U.S., and overseas, we first want to thank you for your support throughout our three years in Women's Professional Soccer.

We are obviously disappointed with the news that was announced today that WPS is suspending operations for the 2012 season. All five owners remain committed to restarting WPS in 2013. In the meantime, we are exploring other options so that we can put a team out on the field in 2012, possibly in the Women's Premier Soccer League (WPSL) or the USL W-League.

"Like our loyal supporters, we are upset by today’s announcement. The Boston Breakers were in a very good situation both on and off the field for 2012," Associate General Manager Lee Billiard said. "We want to thank all of those who purchased season memberships. Thanks to you, we were in a great position to exceed previous years' ticket sales. We will continue to work hard supporting WPS, our players, and our supporters with a view to returning soon.”

Regarding ticket refunds, all group tickets, season tickets, flex packs, and youth soccer partnerships that were purchased are going to be automatically refunded over the course of the next three weeks. If you have any questions regarding ticket refunds, you may contact either Lee Billiard at (lbilliard@bostonbreakers.com or at 781-619-9339) or Gary Beatty (gbeatty@bostonbreakers.com or at 781-619-9328).

Again, a huge thanks to the fans. We are proud to say that we have had the highest attendance average in the league since its inception, a mark of true supporters of not only the Boston Breakers but women's soccer as a whole.

Thanks for all of the support.
